Celebrating Our Founder's Journey: Trek Relief Featured in VoyageLA
We are thrilled to announce that our very own Candice Young, Founder and Executive Director of Trek Relief, was recently featured in VoyageLA. This heartfelt article delves into Candice’s inspiring journey from a globally nomadic traveler to a passionate advocate for communities in need.
Candice's story began in her 20s, exploring diverse cultures and landscapes worldwide. A pivotal moment came in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake in Nepal, where she discovered the earthquake-stricken Langtang Valley. Witnessing the resilience of the villagers, Candice was inspired to take action. Through her efforts, she organized a personal fundraiser, raising $50,000 and helping rebuild the village, including a school.
In 2017, Candice transformed her vision into reality by establishing Trek Relief as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Over the past eight years, Trek Relief has organized 24 trips, raised over half a million dollars, and created a vibrant community of compassionate travelers dedicated to making a positive impact.
Trek Relief connects adventurous travelers with communities in need, combining travel, volunteer work, and fundraising. Candice’s leadership has fostered a movement of purposeful travel, offering training for individuals to step into global leadership roles.
