Every March, the world pauses to recognize the achievements, resilience, and strength of women across every field, industry, and movement. International Women’s Month is a time to honor the leaders, innovators, and changemakers who shape a better future.
At Trek Relief, we are proud to celebrate the women who lead, inspire, and drive meaningful change through service and adventure. From the highest peaks of Nepal to the vast steppes of Mongolia, from the pristine wilderness of Patagonia to the vibrant landscapes of Peru, women are at the heart of everything we do.
A Vision That Started with Action
It all began with Candice Young, whose journey through Nepal in 2015 changed everything. After witnessing the destruction left by the earthquake, she knew she couldn’t just move on—she had to do something. What started as a small fundraising effort evolved into Trek Relief, a movement that has since grown into a global network of impact-driven travel.
Now, as Founder, Program Director, and Trip Leader for Nepal, Candice continues to lead projects that support long-term recovery, women empowerment, and education. But she’s not doing it alone.
“I believe in taking action when something calls to your heart. It doesn’t matter if it’s in your own backyard or on the other side of the world—what matters is that you show up.”
The Leaders Bringing Change to Every Corner of the World
While Candice laid the foundation, a growing team has expanded the mission across new countries and communities:
Sarah Nguyen, Program Director & Trip Leader for Patagonia
A systems engineer turned nonprofit leader, Sarah has spearheaded conservation and education projects in Patagonia, ensuring that sustainability is woven into every initiative.
Julia Roca, Program Director & Trip Leader for Mongolia
With a passion for environmental restoration and breathwork, Julia leads efforts to reforest degraded lands and support nomadic communities.
Harmony Riveros, Program Director & Trip Leader for Peru
Inspired by her experience in Patagonia, Harmony launched Trek Relief’s first-ever clean energy program in Peru, bringing sustainable power solutions to orphanages.
A Salute to Our Volunteers, Donors & Supporters
Change happens because of a collective effort. From those who have funded projects to those who have traveled to remote regions to lend a hand, every person who has contributed plays a role in making adventure-driven impact possible.
To every supporter, traveler, and donor—you are part of this story.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
