Referral and Alumni Discounts Are Ending — Here’s What to Know

At Trek Relief, we continually look for ways to simplify the journey so we can focus on what matters most: community-led impact and providing reliable support to our participants. After careful review, we are making an important update to our incentive structure.

Why We’re Making This Change

We found that managing these programs across all of our automations and terms became too complex to ensure accuracy and consistency for everyone. At the same time, we've seen recent sign-ups increasing organically, proving that the mission is the strongest incentive. To streamline the experience and ensure accuracy for every participant, we are retiring these programs and focusing our efforts elsewhere.

We are choosing simplicity so we can invest more resources in strengthening our reliable fundraising and impact tools.

What Stays the Same (Important)

Your past efforts and loyalty are honored.

  • Your Credits Are Safe: Any discount or credit you have already earned will be fully honored through its original, stated expiration date.

  • Flexible Use: Your existing credit can be applied toward any eligible Trek Relief program (pending availability and standard terms).

  • Personalized Support: We'll help you apply your credit and answer any questions one-on-one.

If you have an existing credit or discount on file, please check your expiration date and reach out so we can help you plan your next mission.

How We’ll Support Your Mission Instead (Stronger, Simpler Options)

To make it easier than ever to participate and reduce your out-of-pocket cost, we are putting all our energy into four reliable, high-impact pathways:

  1. Official Fundraising Pages
Create a verified campaign page so friends, family, and coworkers can give with confidence. You’ll receive clear receipts and updates.

    → Start fundraising

  1. Work-Trade Credits
Complete clearly scoped tasks (e.g., outreach, event support, content, light admin) and earn credits that reduce your trip cost.

    → Explore work-trade

  2. Employer Matching
Many companies match gifts 1:1 or 2:1 and some grant dollars for volunteer hours. Check your employee portal under Charitable Giving (search Trek Relief by name or EIN) and submit a match.

    → Find Your Company

  3. Trek Together Fund
Need-based assistance designed to complement the options above and help close the gap after you’ve tried fundraising and work-trade.

    → Apply to Trek Together

A Note of Thanks

We’re genuinely grateful for everyone who has participated in or shared feedback on these programs over the years. Your loyalty helped us simplify our approach so we can focus on what works best.
