Nepal Needs Jobs: Trek Relief’s First Post-Pandemic Trip and School Handover Ceremony
After nearly two years, we’ve completed our first trip since the pandemic began, carefully following the principles of conscious travel that guide all Trek Relief programs.
This trip marked a significant milestone: the long-awaited School Handover Ceremony, originally scheduled for April 2020, was finally held—19 months later. As Nepal reopened its borders and lifted quarantine requirements, the dire need for jobs and economic stimulation became clear. Restarting our trips was a step toward supporting Nepal’s struggling tourism economy.
A Journey Years in the Making
The school reconstruction project represents the dedication of 79 incredible fundraisers who participated in our Langtang Valley program over 14 Himalayan treks. What began as a crumbled structure in 2017 has transformed into a beacon of hope for the local community.
Standing at the handover ceremony, we felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for the many supporters who made this possible. This was not just Trek Relief’s achievement—it was a shared accomplishment, built on the collective efforts of a global community that believes in the power of education and service.
To every donor, trek participant, and supporter who contributed to this dream—thank you. This moment would not have been possible without your generosity, dedication, and belief in the mission of Trek Relief.
As we continue to resume trips and rebuild connections, we’re reminded of the resilience and hope that drive our work. Together, we’re creating lasting change in Nepal and beyond.
